American Girl, a division of Mattel, is seeking a book editor to join its content development department at its headquarters in Middleton, Wisconsin. American Girl produces a line of dolls, books, and other items and media that celebrate and inspire girls ages 3 to 12 . Located just outside Madison, Middleton has been a consistent favorite of CNNMoney’s Best Places to Live.
The book editor will write and edit for the American Girl advice and activity books, developing and managing contemporary nonfiction content. Current titles include A Smart Girl’s Guide to Friendship Troubles, The Care and Keeping of You: The Body Book for Girls, Bored No More Quiz Book, and Mini Mysteries.
This full-time position requires a bachelor’s degree in English, journalism, or another writing-related field, and two to three years’ experience with writing nonfiction for books or magazines. Candidates with experience working in children’s media will be preferred.
