Featured Job Post: Editor at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco
The Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco is seeking an editor to join its publications team. The museums include the extensively renovated M. H. de Young Memorial Museum (one of the five most-visited art museums in North America) and the California Palace of the Legion of Honor (home of Rodin’s Thinker).
The editor will assist with managing, developing, editing, and producing exhibition catalogs, books, didactics, brochures, and other materials. In addition to researching, writing, editing, and proofreading, the editor will assist with contract and budget preparation; supervise contractors, interns, and suppliers; and oversee some aspects of design, printing, and distribution.
This full-time editing position requires a bachelor’s degree in English or art history (or the equivalent in experience and training); five years’ experience in writing, editing, and book production management; experience with scholarly editing, including art museum publications or the equivalent; and the ability to travel and work some evenings and weekends. Candidate with experience in digital publishing will be preferred.
