Have you ever been emulous of another person to the point that you copy their every move?
Definition
Emulous – ambitious or eager to emulate.
People that become emulous of others usually try to copy them or follow in their footsteps. The downside to this ideal is the lack of creativity and originality.
Etymology
The word emulous comes from the Latin word “aemulus” that means the desire to be equal or excel; rivaling, envious, jealous.
Use in a Sentence
Julie was always better at basketball than Todd so he grew emulous.
I was emulous of my brother’s math skills that I made sure to study harder.
