Talking Points: Copyediting Dialogue in Fiction
Skill level: Intermediate
Instructor: Amy Schneider
Dialogue in fiction consists of so much more than “he said, she said.” Characters communicate in a wide variety of styles and using methods other than direct speech. The copyeditor’s job is to maintain each character’s expressive voice while keeping the various types of dialogue understandable for the reader. In this recorded class, you’ll learn to help the author with the mechanics of dialogue so that the characters communicate authentically and the story shines through. (Course materials are a 9-page PDF with a link to the video recording of the webinar).
